Since film screen speed on computed radiography systems are between 100 and 200 film screen speed, one should have their x-ray density settings set to match the film screen speed of the computed radiography system. It does not matter if it is a New or Old unit. This will in turn help reduce unnecessary radiation exposure to the public. A quick test for this is to place a 1 gal milk jug full of water with marker or metalic object under the jug. Make an exposure and if the system is not calibrated the image will be clear.
